STORIES — One way to improve your English
Amanda, ESL, UK: One year, I had a group tutoring session, about 15 children, every Saturday morning. I had a quiet student who struggled with anxiety and would often avoid participating in class discussions. As her tutor, I worked with her to build her confidence by starting with smaller group discussions and gradually increasing the size of the group. I also encouraged her to share her ideas with the class by providing positive feedback when she did. Eventually, she started to feel more comfortable and even became a leader in some of our class discussions. It was heartwarming to see her come out of her shell and feel confident enough to share her ideas with others, as well as her overall English improvement.
