STORIES — Relationships We Form
Lorraine, Science, USA: I had two students who seemed worlds apart. One was a quiet and introverted bookworm, and the other was an outgoing athlete with a mischievous streak. Due to the athlete's behavior in one class, I paired them up for a science project. At first, I worried it would be a disaster, but to my surprise, they became the best of friends. One's meticulous research combined with the other's creativity resulted in a stunning project that not only earned them an A+ but to my knowledge, 3 years later, they're still close friends. It's amazing the relationships we can form accidentally as teachers.
